Records long enough to mean something

Hydrionis holds English rainfall from 1836 and groundwater levels from the same decade, ingested directly from their publishers. A record this long is what makes it possible to say whether a dry year is unusual, rather than only that it was dry — the driest year here is 1921, at 36% below the 19912020 average.

Hydrionis holds 22,421,497 observations from 201 registered sources, 49,588 of which it computed itself — each of those carrying the method, the version and the identifier of every input that produced it. Values are never invented to fill a gap. Where a publisher revised history, the previous value is kept alongside the new one in the Vault, and what each ingestion run refused to store is published on the diagnostics page.
