Data
Every number on Hydrionis is a structured observation with a source, a method, a licence and a retrieval date. This section exposes that layer directly.
What is here
Explore the data layer
Source registry →
Every source Hydrionis draws on, with publisher, coverage, update frequency, access route and structured rights.
Downloads →
CSV and JSON extracts, gated by whether the underlying source permits redistribution.
API →
A static JSON API served from the same build as the site. No keys, no rate limits, no runtime cost.
Methodology →
The rules governing provenance, basis, native geography, conflicting sources and what happens when Hydrionis does not know.
Licensing →
How rights are recorded per source, and why display rights, redistribution rights and commercial rights are modelled separately.
Coverage and gaps →
What Hydrionis holds, what it does not, and what is scheduled next.
Data enquiries →
For journalists, researchers, universities, developers, utilities, consultancies, NGOs and public bodies.

Rights across the registry
| Rights class | Sources | What it permits |
|---|---|---|
| Open | 22 | Reuse, redistribution and derivative use without restriction beyond the licence terms. |
| Open — attribution required | 106 | The same, provided the publisher is credited. |
| Public but restricted | 67 | Freely viewable and citable, but not freely redistributable or not commercially reusable. |
| Permission required | 4 | Requires a request or agreement with the publisher before any reuse. |
| Proprietary / paid | 2 | Commercial product. Recorded for completeness; Hydrionis does not purchase or ingest it. |
114 of 201 sources permit commercial reuse, and 135 permit redistribution. Those are different questions with different answers, which is why Hydrionis records them separately. 15 sources are recorded but deliberately not used — mostly paid or permission-required products whose existence is worth documenting even though Hydrionis builds equivalent coverage from open alternatives.
