ERA5 global reanalysis
The reference global atmospheric reanalysis: hourly estimates of precipitation, temperature, evaporation, potential evaporation, soil moisture, snow depth and runoff on a roughly 31 km grid from 1940 to the present. Because it is physically consistent and globally complete, ERA5 is the standard basis for cross-country hydrological comparison.

Notes
Reanalysis output is modelled, not measured. It assimilates observations but fills gaps with a physical model, so Hydrionis stores ERA5-derived values with basis "modelled" and never presents them as gauge measurements.
