Context
NEWater is the most successful large-scale demonstration of planned potable reuse anywhere. Most of the output goes to industry, where the very low mineral content is an advantage; a portion is blended into reservoirs before conventional treatment, which is indirect potable reuse. The public acceptance strategy — extensive visitor education and a visible political commitment — is studied as closely as the treatment train.
